CU-Underground was founded as a result of the failures and embedded interests of local news companies in the Champaign-Urbana area. Nepotism and cronyism have resulted in unchecked corruption and misconduct not just by public entities, officials, and employees, but also by private interests who should be held accountable by governing bodies. CU-Underground relies on citizen submissions of information, documents, and articles. If you are aware of corruption or misconduct in the Champaign-Urbana area, we want to hear from you. Even small cases of misconduct by public employees and officials are worth taking note of, as they are often red flags for larger problems. We will investigate and write the stories that the established and festering interest groups would rather see ignored. We also welcome submissions of written articles, so long as they are well substantiated. Submissions of information or articles can be anonymous, and we will protect the identity of anyone submitting information. CU-Underground has no formal funding or income, so we rely on our readers to help disseminate our articles. We encourage you to link to CUU articles on Facebook, Twitter, and elsewhere.
